Meet the team
At the heart of our Community Centre is a dedicated team of volunteers, committee members, and supportive community partners who give their time, skills, and passion to help our centre thrive.
We are incredibly grateful for the generosity, hard work, and community spirit they bring. This page celebrates the people who help make everything we do possible.
Charlotte Caton
Volunteer Committee Member, Social Media coordinator & events volunteer, Trustee
Hello, my name is Charlotte, I've grown up in the area and I joined the committee in 2024. I choose to volunteer because I’ve always felt the wonderful community spirit in our village. I had so many good and memorable experiences here as a child, and giving my time now is my way of giving something back. In my spare time I play in the ukulele band and I'm in a local choir. I also enjoy hiking and being outdoors
Nigel Clarke
Volunteer committee member, Treasurer, Events Volunteer, Trustee
Hi, I’m Nigel. I’ve lived in the village since 2000, joined the committee soon after arriving, and have been Treasurer since 2008. I also help Albert Britcliffe run the Film Club.
After a career in plant biochemistry and over 20 years teaching at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, I retired in 2024. The centre has helped me feel part of the community, and I hope others will get involved to keep it at the heart of village life.
John Evans
Volunteer, Handy man, committee member, events volunteer, Trustee
Hi, I’m John Evans. I’ve lived in Mellor Brook & Balderstone since 1985, having moved from Cardiff in 1976. Cathy and I have four children, two of whom live locally.
After a career with Ordnance Survey and 28 years in the motor trade, I now run my own business. I joined the Centre committee in 2014, help secure funding, run the 100 Club and support events.
Volunteering is my way of giving something back to a community that means a great deal to me.
