The
proposed development of Mellor Brook is located on a site 555 metres
from the centre of the quaint local village of Marple Bridge. This
village and the nearby town of Marple both lie within the vicinity
of Greater Manchester.
Mellor is an area of magnificent beauty, covering just over 11 square
miles. The land rises from 300 feet at the lowest point on the River
Goyt to just over 1000 feet on Cobden Edge which is part of the conservation
area.
The large gardens that surround the site ensure that it is well screened
from existing properties. The site derives its name from the brook
running through the adjacent woodland of approximately 2 acres.
